Before you go live
What we set up for you
Five steps, done with you over a few messages. Most businesses are live within 1 to 2 weeks.
- 01
Your Text2Book business number
We give your business its own local texting number on Telnyx, a licensed US phone carrier. Your customers' follow-up texts come from this number. You keep your existing number for calls.
- A local number in your area code
- Texts are sent in your business's name
- No new phone or app for you
- 02
Carrier registration (10DLC)
US carriers require every business that texts customers to register first. We register your business (the brand) and how you text (the campaign) with the carriers' official registry, so your texts aren't blocked or marked as spam.
- We need your legal business name, EIN, address and website
- Carriers charge small registration fees; we tell you the exact amounts up front
- Usually approved within 1 to 2 weeks
- 03
Call forwarding when you don't answer
We help you switch on "forward when unanswered" on your current business line, pointing to your Text2Book number. Your phone still rings first. Only calls you don't pick up move on.
- Works with most cell, landline and VoIP providers
- Usually one short code or a setting in your carrier's app
- You choose how many rings before it forwards
- 04
Tuning your assistant
From the details you give us, we set up your greeting, services, service area, hours, the questions to ask and your emergency rules, plus who gets alerts.
- Written in your business's tone
- Only books the work you actually do
- Changed anytime you ask
- 05
Test call and go live
We place a test call to your number so you can watch the text arrive and the booking request reach your phone. When you're happy, you're live.
- Takes about 10 minutes
- We stay on hand for your first week

When a call comes in
Second by second
Here's the real sequence for one missed call, from the first ring to the confirmation.
- 0:00Customer
A customer calls your business number
Your phone rings as normal. If you pick up, Text2Book stays out of the way.
- ~0:20You
Nobody answers
After the rings you chose, your carrier forwards the unanswered call to your Text2Book number.

A short greeting
The caller hears a quick, natural-sounding message: sorry we missed you, we're texting you right now. Then the call ends.
- Seconds laterText2Book
The first text arrives
A friendly text from your business asks what's going on and how urgent it is, before the caller dials anyone else.
- A few minutesText2Book
The assistant gathers the job
It asks your questions one step at a time: the problem, urgency, name, address and a time that works.
- Right awayYou
The booking request reaches you
You get every detail by text and in the inbox. Emergencies are flagged as urgent.
- When you're readyYou
You approve, decline or change it
Reply YES, NO or something like "make it 8am". Nothing is booked without you.
- Seconds laterCustomer
The customer is confirmed
They get a confirmation text. If they reschedule or cancel later, you approve that too.
Text vs voice
Why text, not an AI voice bot?
AI voice agents answer the phone and talk to your caller. Text2Book texts them instead. Here's why we think text wins for home service jobs.
Has to stay on the line and talk to a bot, often from a noisy job site or work.
Replies whenever it suits them, from anywhere.
Names and addresses are easy to mishear, then read back for correction.
The customer types them, so they arrive spelled correctly.
Some callers hang up as soon as they hear a robot voice.
A normal text from your business, like any other message.
A call summary or a recording to listen back to.
A clean booking request. Reply YES and it's booked.
Buried in audio and call transcripts.
The full written conversation, saved in your inbox.
The caller can get stuck in a loop on the line.
It hands the conversation to you with an alert.
Where voice shines: callers who want to talk to someone right away. Text2Book still greets every missed caller by voice, and anyone who asks for a person is handed straight to you.
Technical questions
The details owners ask about
Anything else? Ask us. We're happy to walk through your setup.
Calls still go to your usual number. The follow-up texts come from your registered Text2Book number, which is local to your area. Customers simply reply to the text.
Nothing changes. Text2Book only steps in when a call goes unanswered and is forwarded.
No. Your current phone and number stay the same. You approve jobs by text, or in the inbox if you prefer.
Most US cell, landline and VoIP providers support forwarding unanswered calls. We check yours during setup and walk you through it.
Carriers review every business before letting it text customers. It protects your number's reputation, so your texts get delivered instead of filtered.
If a customer asks for a person or the request is unusual, the conversation is handed to you with an alert, so nobody gets stuck.
